Welcome Dinner & Opening Party

Every semester begins with a grand Welcome Dinner! All newbies (and returning students) are invited to taste traditional Hungarian cuisine. After finishing our dishes, we continue the evening with an official afterparty downtown!

Orientation Day

During the first week, we provide every piece of information you need. This informal event is perfect for purchasing your ESNcard, booking the Budapest Trip, meeting mentors, and socializing with fellow international students.

Trips & Travel

ESN Debrecen organizes trips twice a semester. We take you to Budapest, the beautiful capital, and other destinations like Tokaj (capital of wines) or Hortobágy (famous for its landscape and traditional fauna).

Cooking Class & Int. Dinner

Join our Hungarian Cooking Class to learn local recipes! A special version is the International Dinner, where students cook dishes representing their own countries. A delicious way to share culture!

Global Tower

A real cultural medley held every spring in the Water Tower. Cultural talks, international quizzes, and activities to break down walls between cultures. In the evening, we continue with concerts and a party!

Tandem Program

Partners meet weekly to practice each other’s languages. The first half is in one language, the second half in another. It's the best way to improve your Hungarian or English skills while making friends.

Social Inclusion Days

SID offers opportunities to get closer to the local community through volunteer activities. The mission is to create a positive social impact and involve international students in volunteering.

Fun & Social Events

Besides large events, we organize weekly fun programs: Movie Nights (with best Hungarian movies + subtitles), Beer Pong championships, and our ever-popular Bowling Night.

Farewell & Closing Party

The very last event of the semester. We organize a huge party where you can enjoy the treasures of Debrecen one last time. It includes a mini competition to uplift the fantastic atmosphere before saying goodbye.
